Cover Love Week: Day 6 - The Wood Queen by Karen Mahoney

Today's Pick:
The Wood Queen

Release Date: February 8, 2012

Why I love it

I love this cover because of its power (yes I know that was the reason for the first cover too :P). It also tied in very nicely with the name of the book with the wood surrounding the girl, and the queen part of it being the power emanating from her. I also like the tie in with the first book with the 'scarring' on the arm turning into white light.

her ailing mother takes a turn for the worse Donna seeks an audience with Aliette, the Wood Queen, who offers a deal: if Donna can use her powers to open the door to Faerie and send the wood elves home, Aliette will free her mother from the elven curse that shattered her mind.

Cover Love Week: Day 5 - Pure by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Today's Pick:
Pure

Why I love it

I love this cover because well first of all it's blue, and blue is my very favorite color so it has that in its favor. Of course there is also the almost hypnotic draw of the fire that is a flower. Can you imagine how good this would look if it were embossed and slightly metallic?

Cover Love Week: Day 4 - Everneath by Brodi Ashton

Today's Pick:
Everneath

Release Date: January 3, 2012

Why I love it

I love this cover because it looks like her arm is made out of mist although if you look closely you will notice that her arm is folded in close to her. The effect it gives off is very mystical and surreal feeling.

Why I love it

I love this cover because it's got a very eerie feel to it, but it's not just a standard house that's kind of creepy feeling type of cover. The face of the guy at the top with the mutated eye gives off an extra sense of scary, and the whole cover just comes together very nicely.

New Cover for Skyship Academy

So, one of the books I got an ARC of at BEA was Skyship Academy: The Pearl Wars by Nick James. I have yet to feature it on my blog since... well as mentioned I haven't been home and there are piles of books which I haven't gotten around to processing yet. Well, one of these books was Skyship Academy, and apparently it got a facelift!

So here is the new and improved cover!

It's kind of reminiscent of The Water Wars and The Marbury Lens, but this cover will likely have a broader appeal than the original one (which had a spaceship and a few guys with green glowing things) so I imagine that's the reason for the change. I personally prefer the original cover, but I'm all sorts of weird so there's that heh~~

O, you might also be interested in a synopsis:

A devastated Earth’s last hope is found in Pearls: small, mysterious orbs that fall from space, and are capable of supplying enough energy to power entire cities. Battling to control the Pearls are the Skyship dwellers—political dissidents who live in massive ships in the Earth’s stratosphere—and the corrupt Surface government.

Jesse Fisher, a Skyship slacker, and Cassius Stevenson, a young Surface operative, cross paths when they both venture into forbidden territory in pursuit of Pearls. Their chance encounter triggers an unexpected reaction, endowing each boy with remarkable—and dangerous—abilities that their respective governments would stop at nothing to possess. Enemies thrust together with a common goal, Jesse and Cassius make their way to the ruins of Seattle to uncover the truth about their new powers, the past they didn’t know they shared, and a shocking secret about the Pearls.
