Third Sentence Thursday (#47)

Third Sentence Thursday
Grab the Code

Third Sentence Thursday is a weekly meme which likes to curl up with a good book and hot chocolate!

1) Take the book you are reading now and post the third sentence
2) Review this sentence anyway you want (funny and silly reviews encouraged)
3) Post a link to your sentence here (in the comments) or if you don't have a blog, just post it in the comments!

"The day Amy was born, her mother, Jeannette, was nineteen years old." -The Passage by Justin Cronin

Nineteen is not very old to be having a child. At least, not in modern times, and this book takes place now-ish. It just doesn't bode well, and while I wish Jeannette and Amy the best of luck, I can't help but think this won't end well.

  1. I haven't read this one. Someone at the pub was supposed to send it but alas it never arrived. I hear it is a door stop of a tome but good. I look forward to your thoughts. Not YA tho' is it?

  2. @Steph definitely not YA. This was hugely popular so I though I'd give it a try. It takes a lot of time doing setup so far although that may also be an artifact of me listening to it on audiobook.

  3. I've heard great things about this book - it's supposed to be scary, right? Here's my entry for today:

  5. "This modality may be used in stabble patients as a less invasive alternative to lapartomy."

This is a pretty funny line since it is an inside joke by the author referring to diagnositc abdominal laparotomy. There in lies the joke! Because it's an invasive test!!!

The author was speaking of the influences in his life when writing that line, mostly because he is a doctor...or something. Yeah.

Hmm, I guess this 3rd sentence fun doesn't work for medical textbooks. Weird.
